It was great to meet Georgios and to do the Durham Street Photography walk about. Sometimes it's just nice to be in a group, to share knowledge and experience, do things together - a great learning community. I really enjoyed the session and got some nice photos too.

It was a good walk around Durham with a knowledgeable tutor who's clearly enthusiastic about architecture photography, and I learned several things, including one especially good tip. I'd happily join another of Jake's classes.

It was an amazing introduction to photography. Jake was so knowledgeable and was generous in sharing this knowledge in a way that encouraged me to have a go and believe in myself. We were able to explore the best options for different light, close up pictures, composition and much more. I left feeling inspired and motivated to do more with my camera. I can't thank Jake enough for a fantastic course

    Georgios Ntazos
George is doctoral student of Social Anthropology at Durham. He graduated four years ago from his postdoctoral studies in Visual Ethnography and Social Anthropology. Throughout his Master's studies, he learnt how to make a documentary from scratch. From earlier on, he had tried multiple brands of cameras like Nikon, Sony, Canon, Olympus and Fujifilm for his stills.

At the moment, he is focusing on his doctoral studies, his support work with young care leavers and people fighting with their drug and alcohol addictions and trying to avoid homelessness. In the meantime, he enjoys travelling every two to three months around the world and visiting his home country, Greece. He is using mostly macrophotography as a way of expressing his love for small objects and the details of an environment affected by humans and their insensitive actions over nature. George has recently acquired a Portrait lens and would like to invest more time into capturing people's faces within spontaneity whilst respecting other people's privacy. George believes in the social significance of photography to disturb those abusing power and stereotypes about minority communities and marginalized individuals. Also, he believes that art should be original and authentic with our own feelings.
